Kenickie were the 4-piece punk-indie band from Sunderland, England. A band was formed within 1994 & consisted of lead vocalist, guitar player and lyrist Lauren Laverne (b. Lauren Gofton), drummer Johnny X (really title Pete Gofton, Lauren's brother), lead guitarist & occasional vocaliser Marie du Santiago (b. Marie Nixon) & bass guitar player Emmy-Kate Montrose (b. Emma Jackson).

A class action originally worked sustaining Newcastle punk label Slampt before signing to EMI. It disbanded around 1998 fallowing a London Astoria gig, in which Lauren famously closed the nighttime by saying "We were Kenickie ... a bunch of fuckwits".

Kenickie registered in a UK singles chart in the high 20s, their greatest position existence Two dozen sustaining the only For your Car, & gained cult appeal fallowing the easily-received 1st album At A Club, which following at Nina from carolina around Might 1997.

Marie & Emmy-Kate went in to form the fresh band known as Rosita that disbanded shortly after a release of deuce singles. Pete Goftin went on to record under a title J.Xaverre. Lauren Laverne likewise freed the individual solo single & currently presents a radio indicate in Xfm at 4-7pm each weekday.
